    Work Location:       Based from central Virginia with most projects in Virginia, North Carolina and West Virginia frequently as weekly out of town work


    Position Overview


    Seeking dedicated people with the desire to build a career while exceeding the highest of quality and safety standards. Operators are assigned to a crew to install or remove temporary utility access provisions. Duties involve construction equipment operation and general labor when needed. Operators excavate terrain to facilitate the installation of construction entrances, temporary linear roads, construction work pads, installation of construction mats, and the removal and restoration of completed areas.


    • Operate a variety of equipment once certified and confirmed in house
    • Using a hand shovel, dig around existing utility structures to prevent damage if needed
    • Load and unload equipment and material
    • Daily pre-shift vehicle and equipment inspections
    • Working closely with and adhering to leadership instruction
    • Perform regular maintenance and cleaning on assigned vehicles and equipment i.e. daily servicing and housekeeping for the equipment you operate and immediate area

    Hold a current valid Drivers License



    • Skill to operate excavation and off-road forklift equipment in close proximity to above ground hazards, other equipment, and ground workers
    • Ability to interact with supervisors and coworkers professionally at all times
    • Ability to think clearly no matter the stress or difficulty of your circumstances
    • Possess a strong work ethic and commitment to excellence
    • Ability to comprehend and communicate specific directions in English to ensure the safety of all
    • Desire to understand, commit to, and have the initiative to perform all activities with safety understood as the top protocol

    Education and Experience

    • 6-12 months experience operating track hoes, backhoes, rubber tire loaders, off-road equipment with forks, tractors with most implements, skid steers with a variety of implements, rough cutting and finish grading job sites


    Physical, Mental and Environmental Demands

    • Ability to tolerate work in the extremes of weather. 
    • Withstand prolonged and repeated: full attention to job site safety awareness, efficient and effective equipment operation, focus on planning for and communicating upcoming scope of work needs with leadership/co-workers, and communicating your input from your experience and current task to your leadership
    • Ability to work with a heightened awareness within the “red zone” of heavy equipment
    • Ability to stay on point when working extended hours/days to support the schedule and current demands
    • Quick and accurate hand-eye coordination to work safely
    • Flexibility to work various schedules and stay late when necessary with little or no notice
    • Understand that job demands and conditions can change, during which you may be requested or instructed to agree to work past the normal day or week hours. While we make every attempt to support our crew members and families by performing our obligations within a 40 hour week, our mission will always be to support you as an employee, with the expectation that you will in turn always support us as well when demands rise.
