  • Overview

    Provide administrative expertise to manage the server infrastructure at the Houston data center and other locations for Willbros with responsibility for a variety of systems including Active Directory, storage, disaster recovery and SQL database administration. Although this is an administrator-level position, this person is expected to provide support for escalated issues when necessary.

    Responsibilities

    Typical Duties Include:

    • Keep abreast of new technology developments and evaluate for use in Willbros environment. Present solutions to management team and executives when necessary
    • Be part of an on-call rotation for periodic coverage on weekends. Be available for outages to update systems and applications
    • Provision SQL server security based on application and business requirements
    • Provision, install, test, support, and maintain hardware and software for server and database systems
    • Monitor server hardware, server software and services to minimize downtime by identifying and resolving problems before they impact the user community
    • Configure and monitor backup systems to ensure data protection
    • Analysis and execution of SQL statements to correct data corruption in applications and recommend changes for query optimization
    • Documentation for all the above
    • Travel to other locations for 2-3 days, once or twice a year

    Qualifications

    Professional Experience:

    • 5-7 years of experience managing server/storage and 3-5 years of experience managing Microsoft SQL environments

     

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: 

    • Strong knowledge of Active Directory and Windows Server 2008+ administration required
    • Strong knowledge of Microsoft T-SQL required
    • Proactively monitor scheduled jobs and database performance in development, test, and production environments
    • Configure and Maintain Windows and SQL High Availability features
    • Design, implement and maintain production batch and scheduling systems (ETL)
    • Strong knowledge of TCP/IP including IP addressing, subnetting, DHCP/DNS and default gateways
    • Strong knowledge of VMWare vSphere
    • Proficient in powershell scripting
    • Experience with storage provisioning and SAN architecture, including HP EVA/P2000, NetApp FAS, Nimble, and Fiberchannel and ISCSI storage protocols
    • Experience managing and deploying HP C-class blade enclosures and rackmount servers
    • Knowledge of Citrix XenApp/XenDesktop 7.5 a plus
    • Experience with AWS, Azure, O365, and Exchange 2007/2010 a plus
