Overview

This position will report to the General Manager – Tank Services and will be responsible for ensuring that the projects are completed on time, on budget, and construction meets the quality objectives. This non-union, Oklahoma & Texas-based business unit specializes in new above ground field erected storage tanks, tank maintenance & repairs, cone roof, dome & structure replacements, floating roof installations, repairs, floating roof seals, and secondary containment tank bottoms.  This position will be located in our Tulsa, Oklahoma or Channelview, Texas office.

Responsibilities

  • Actively supports the Company’s Code of Business Conduct and Ethics, Key Results, Cultural Beliefs, and Safety Vision.
  • Seek out and develop new customers. Follow-up and maintain existing customer relations. 
  • Attend pre-bid meetings and job walks. Complete applicable standard and special documentation as required, enabling the preparation of a complete estimate and proposal.
  • Review customer inquiry documents, drawings, specifications and pre-bid meeting documentation. Develop and prepare a complete detailed job estimate and proposal based on a safe, feasible, and cost-effective job plan.
  • Submit completed proposal to customer and follow-up for additional submittals and final determination.
  • Review customer contract to confirm compliance with proposed terms and company commercial policies. Submit to area manager for review and acceptance.
  • Set up and maintain job tracking files including gross margin calculation, PO log, and job hour log.
  • Submit applicable requests to Engineering for required design and/or drafting. Review preliminary and final drawings for accuracy and job scope compliance.  Submit drawings to customer as per contract requirements.
  • Issue purchase orders for all required job materials. Expedite vendors as required to assure material deliveries support the project schedule requirements.
  • Prepare job scope and plan. Submit to area regional manager along with man-hour estimates, material delivery schedule, contract schedule requirements, etc. Work with area regional manager to finalize and assure that all field project issues are addressed.
  • Attend pre-construction and required progress meetings with the customer.
  • Monitor job costs and man-hours on a continuous basis to assure consistency with the project plan and cost estimate. Investigate deviations and modify the job plan as required to mitigate and, whenever possible, recover job cost overages.
  • Review and approve all job related vendor invoices and verify accuracy of the PO log.
  • Prepare lump sum and time & material invoice forms and submit to Downstream accounting for invoice preparation. Review invoices for accuracy.  Follow up as needed with customers to assure timely payment.
  • Maintain job documentation and prepare project completion report.
  • Deliver and review project completion report with customer whenever possible.
  • Contribute to the development of the Company’s work processes and procedures to constantly improve the safety, quality and competitiveness of our work.

 

Qualifications

Education:

 

A high school diploma or the equivalent is required.  An advanced degree is preferred.

 

Professional Experience:

 

5+ years’ experience with increasing responsibility in comparable setting is required.

 

Solid interpersonal skills, verbal and written communication.  Ability to influence management by selling ideas and gain buy in.  Must be organized.

 

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

 

Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.
